The Four Horsemen is a Custom Story for Amnesia: The Dark Descent. It was made in a small team consisting of ~10 contributors with myself doing the majority of the scripting. It was made over a year, with work being done when time was available to the team.

Scripting

Amnesia: The Dark Descent uses AngelScript with preset functions set by Friction Games. There were a few lines and functions added by the level designer whilst testing some areas, but most of cut-scenes, puzzles and simple interactions were coded by myself.

Level Design / Concept

I drew out plans for a few of the quarters in the level. I also did a bit on in-editor level design to change around objects to suit the puzzles.

Story Development

The basic, over-arching story of Alistar stopping the Four Horsemen by entering their realm and each of their quarters to collect their orbs and destroy them.

The v1.1 patch was done by myself alone. The main level designer had other projects to commit to, so I ended up patching it myself.

You play as Alistair, a 19th century researcher who has devoted his life to the study of the Four Horsemen. Upon hearing reports of their arrival to Earth, Alistair realises that he may have the solution to save mankind from annihilation...
